Big Little Surprise

Bright morning sunlight slanted down through the trees as the gray Quarter horse mare grazed.
The sun fell like a halo around her small filly that lay at her hoofs. Mother and daughter enjoyed the peace and tranquility before the busy equestrian center bursted to life.
When Echo came to fetch Anniyah from the meadow, she was shocked into silence at the little foal that trailed behind its mother.
"Oh dear..." she whispered, a hand flying to her mouth.
She yelled at her husband to dial the vet. How could this be? She hadn't bred Anniyah to anyone!
After the vet had assured them that the foal was healthy, Echo asked that the father be determined.
A couple days later, it turned out that Barbizon's Jazz was the father!
Echo felt like smacking herself in the forehead.
Nine months earlier, one of the boards that separated the mares from the stallions broke. Both Anniyah and Jazz were out that night, and it was apparently evident that Jazz had taken a liking to the gray mare. What surprised Echo more was that all this time, no one had noticed Anniyah's pregnancy.
Echo thanked God that this had been Anniyah's year off, and they had only lightly exercised her, most of it bareback.
Echo grumbled to herself as she went to scold her spanish barb.
When she reached his stall, however, she couldn't bring herself to it.
Jazz had been aware of his foal, and was standing sheepishly looking at her.
"Thats right, mister." Echo said sternly. "You should be ashamed! Scaring the crap out of me like that..." Jazz snorted his apologies and nuzzled his owner.
Shortly thereafter, River came running from the house in her pajamas to see the new foal.
"Mommy," River tugged on Echo's sleeve. "What are we gonna call her?" They both watched the little brown filly as it suckled from its mother. It was a rich chocolate, with a tinge of red. Its legs were white and so was its face. It mane and tail were jet black.
Echo took a few minutes to think, and soon Chase and the ranch hands had paused to come help.
After a few ideas and debate, they finally settled on one.
"Barbizon's Chocolate Surprise." Echo beamed, and Anniyah whinnied, as if to agree with them.

I love this picture. I miss doing traditional, I will do more.
So yee, I decided that it was about time Anniyah and Jazz paired, and so here she is!
